COSTA CALIDA

Costa Calida (Hot Coast) refers to the 250 km long coastline of the province or region of Murcia San Pedro del Pinatar until after Aguilas on the border with Andalusia. It is Murcia's access to the sea. Murcia itself is considered the hottest province in Spain. The number of days per year with clear skies is 120-150, with approximately 2,800 hours of sunshine per year. The average annual temperature is 16 to 19 ° C. The Costa Calida is also sometimes called Gulf of Murcia or Costa (de) Murcia. The largest town on the Costa Cálida is Cartagena. The highest point of the region is the Revolcadores Massif (2027 m), followed by numerous other smaller mountain ranges in the middle and north-west of the province. The Costa Calida offers something over 250 km of coastline: coves and small beaches alternate with rocky shores and steep, rocky cliffs. As a geographical peculiarity of nature we find La Manga, a coastal strip, or rather a lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea. The coast of Murcia has on the one hand, unprotected shores and wild sea and on the other small coves with sand dunes, beaches, salt-water lagoons, mud flats.
